Cicero Youth Soccer League

Programs

Below is information regarding all programs offered by Cicero Youth Soccer League.

Mini-Kickers

CYSL now offers a Mini-Kickers Program for children born between the dates of 1/1/2015 and 12/31/2016.

  • Individual soccer and gross motor skill development, including lots of dribbling and kicking a soccer ball, scoring goals, passing, and other soccer fundamentals.
  • Fun games are played with the use of the ball to continue to emphasize the sport of soccer.
  • Largely supported by parent-child activities with the ball at various soccer skill stations.
  • Two practices per week – Monday evenings 6:00pm-6:45pm and Saturday practice at 11:00am-11:45am.
  • Registration for the 12 practices is $40.
  • We hold a 6 week session in the Spring, and a separate 6 week session in the Fall.
  • Prepares children for entry into the 6U age division CYSL program.
  • New jerseys and soccer balls are issued once a year with registration.  A player registering in the Spring and again in the Fall will only receive a jersey and soccer ball in the Spring.
  • Footwear - The children can wear whatever they would be comfortable in to run and kick a soccer ball.  Most mini-kickers wear sneakers.  The benefits in starting them wearing soccer cleats at this age is to give them a little height under their feet while running in the grass and just to get used to wearing them.
  • Shin Guards - These are not required. The practices mostly focus on individual skill development, and because of this there is minimal risk of getting kicked in the shins.  There are a few scrimmages among the kids toward the end of the season which shin guards would be appropriate.

Recreational League

CYSL offers a recreational league with the following categories:  6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U and HS. All categories are co-ed.
  • Cicero Youth Soccer League (CYSL) is operated at Plank Road Park on Mud Mill Road.
  • CYSL has both a spring and a fall season for kids born between the dates of 1/1/2001 and 12/31/2014.
  • The spring season begins around the first Saturday in May while the fall season begins around the Saturday following Labor Day.
  • Each season is comprised of 6 games.
  • All games are scheduled on Saturdays with most being in the morning and a few being in the very early afternoon.
  • There is one practice per week for which the coach decides the day, time and location.
  • Registration is $65 for the first child and is discounted for subsequent children.
  • The registration fee covers BOTH the spring and the fall seasons of the calendar year.
  • It is the same price if you play in just the spring, just the fall or both spring and fall.
Note: HS teams typically only play in the spring due to conflicts with other sports in the fall.
